HEAD ON COLLISION RESULTS IN FATALITY NEAR JEROME

On July 3rd, 2025, two vehicles collided just north of Jerome, Idaho. The accident took place at 10:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 93, at milepost 63. The incident involved two vehicles, a 2005 Ford Explorer, and a 2012 Dodge Journey.

At the time of the accident, the driver of the Dodge, a 20-year-old female and her 41-year-old passenger and minor passenger, all from Peru, were headed northbound. As they traveled, the second vehicle, the Ford, driven by a 27-year-old man from Jerome, began to veer into the northbound lane. The vehicles collided head on at milepost 63.

The driver and minor passenger of the Dodge were transported to a nearby hospital via air ambulance. The other passenger of the Dodge sustained critical injuries and passed away before she could receive medical treatment. The driver of the Ford was also injured and was transported to a local hospital via ground ambulance. All four individuals involved in this accident wore seatbelts at the time of the collision.

We are so sorry to hear about this accident and loss. We send our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the woman who passed. We also send well wishes to all the injured individuals, and hope they will each be able to make a full and speedy recovery.

Unfortunately, according to Idaho Transportation Department’s crash report in 2023, 22% of all crashes involving multiple vehicles were a result of head on collision. Head on collisions were the largest contributing cause of multi-vehicle crashes in 2023. Multiple vehicle crashes accounted for 72% of all motor vehicle crashes in 2023, leaving a total of 19,807 multi-vehicle crashes.

LIABILTIY FOR ACCIDENTS IN IDAHO

No one who gets into or drives a vehicle wants to be involved in an accident. But unfortunately, car accidents happen. Idaho uses a fault-based system to impose liability on the party most at-fault for the accident. A legal principle called “comparative negligence,”  is applied to determine the negligence of all involved parties. If the Plaintiff’s negligence is less than 50%, then she generally can recover damages from the Defendant (or the Defendant’s insurance policy).

Our personal injury attorneys can advise injured persons about their particular case and how Idaho’s legal principles of negligence, causation, and liability apply to it.
