His practice is concentrated on environmental law, land use, and water law. Education: Mr. Ryan obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology from Furman University in 2005. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Vermont Law School and was admitted to the Idaho State Bar in 2010. While attending Vermont Law School, Mr. Ryan served as Research Assistant to Jack R. Tuholske and Managing Editor of the Vermont Journal of Environmental Law. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Ryan interned with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region IV, volunteered for Idaho Legal Aid Services, and externed as a law clerk to the Honorable Jeffrey M. Sherlock of the First Judicial District Court of Montana in Helena. Mr. Ryan has authored a number of scientific and legal articles, including “Banning Felt Soles in Vermont: A Call for State Legislative Response to the Spread of Invasive Didymo” (Univ. of Denver Water Law Review, Fall 2009). Practice Summary: The bulk of Mr. Ryan's practice involves federal and state environmental law, land use regulation, and water law, including administrative matters and litigation related to these practice areas. As a member of the firm's Natural Resources practice group, he represents public interest organizations and individuals in disputes arising out of agency action or inaction under the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, CERCLA, and Endangered Species Act. Mr. Ryan also represents clients on matters involving federal and state natural resource and wildlife agencies, including the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Idaho Fish & Game, Idaho's Department of Environmental Quality, and the Idaho Department of Water Resources. Mr. Ryan is licensed to practice before all federal and state courts in Idaho. Professional Memberships and Activities: Mr. Ryan is a member of the Environment and Natural Resources, Litigation, and Water Law sections of the Idaho State Bar. As a volunteer, he is involved with both the Henry's Fork Foundation and the Madison River Foundation. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Yellowstone to Uintas Connection, an Idaho-based nonprofit committed to furthering science-based conservation practices in public land management. Biographical Information: Mr. Ryan was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. He resides in Pocatello with his wife Molly, and they enjoy hiking and flyfishing in the greater Yellowstone area. |
