Sheehy and subsequently to Justice Terry N. Trieweiler of the Montana Supreme Court in 1989-1991. John worked for the State of Montana as a staff attorney with the Missoula County District Court from 1992 to 2006, serving in multiple capacities, including clerk to the Hon. John S. Henson, special master in the Fourth Judicial District Court and Missoula County District Court Administrator. His name was forwarded by the Montana Judicial Nomination Committee in 2006 to Gov. Brian Schweitzer for appointment to a vacant district judge seat. Academic Degrees: John received a B.A. in journalism from the University of Montana in 1984. He obtained his J.D. degree from the University of Montana School Of Law in 1988. Professional Memberships and Activities: John is a member of the Idaho and Montana State Bar Associations and has received multiple recognitions for pro bono service in Montana with the Crime Victim Advocates program. He is a Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Missoula, Montana and is the recipient of the Montana Kiwanis Snell Award. In 2010, he received first place nationally in the Inland Press Awards for his reporting on medical care in the women's prison system in Idaho.
